Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is a therapeutic school for troubled teenagers, at-risk youth and problematic children requiring a special kind of education and guidance not available in a traditional school setting. It is located in Troy, Montana, on a pastoral 150-acre land away from worldly distractions, where a troubled teen can find healing and growth.
The Turning Winds program is a year long education and treatment. With low students-to-teachers ratio, qualified and caring staff, and personalized teaching instruction, students will learn much more than in a traditional classroom setting. Learning extends beyond the classroom; there are lots of games, adventure trips and recreation all aimed to further each student's learning experience. Students will quickly find Turning Winds as the best development environment for them.

As a prominent therapeutic center for troubled teens, the Turning Winds therapy program combines established clinical treatment methods with various humanistic and eclectic approaches in cognitive behavioral therapy. It has consistently shown success in turning the lives of hundreds of troubled teenagers and helping them get back on track. The program deals in all three critical areas for lasting change and reduced recidivism—behavior modification, emotional/mental strength and academic performance. Regular psychotherapy sessions is a primary component of the program; that’s why aside from misbehaving or at-risk youth, teenagers suffering from various mood/mental disorders can benefit much from the program:
- Adoption issues
- Attachment issues
- Anger management issues
- Defiance and rebelliousness issues
- Depression and bipolar disorder
- Personality and identity disorder
- Eating and weight disorder
- Low self-esteem and lack of motivation
- Poor academic performance
- ADHD/ADD
- Poor self control and impulsivity
- Poor family and social relationships
- Negative peer relationships
- Sexually Acting Out
- Substance abuse (drug, alcohol, medication)
- Trauma related issues
After completion of a Turning Winds program, teenagers are usually able to reintegrate back into their families, resume a productive live and pursue their chosen career at major schools and universities.
